— jumped in and it was instantly 3 conversations at once… Miles opens with “I don’t want another vendor safety sermon” then immediately asks me for offline/airgapped numbers + latency + “can we run this without internet, like, at all” (so he is comparing architectures now). Dana says he’s in a foul mood bc Legal keeps pushing back and “this is historically new for Cyberdyne” (lol). Dana also warns she’s out Feb 10–17 no laptop, so if we need calendars/room bookings we need to get it locked before then or it turns into Slack chaos.

Sarah basically steamrolls: “We need something that ships, no pilot committee death” and Ken is on camera nodding like a disappointed dad saying “fixed scope, fixed fees, fixed liability” every 90 seconds. Tim is doing the opposite, “velocity velocity velocity” and keeps dropping that Helios AI “already proved this” (no proof, just that they fed him steak at re:Invent or whatever). Nadia immediately undercuts: Helios is “black box logging with a pretty UI” and she’s not signing off anything that can’t map to their reference arch doc (she literally said “multi-cloud by trauma, not strategy” and I wrote that down because… yes). Jordan says no outbound calls, no egress, none, and Sarah does the “but the model needs updates” thing and Jordan goes “bring the updates in like it’s 1999” which got a laugh but also… he’s dead serious.

somewhere in that, the Skynet status thing again: it’s not a “project” (procurement language) it’s an “initiative” (political language) so nobody will say budget out loud, but everyone talks like the Feb 25 exec review is a decision gate. Lea kept doing the Finance BP contradiction dance: “budget isn’t the issue” → “spend is frozen until Q4 reforecast” → “there might be innovation funds if it’s framed as risk mitigation not innovation.” Jordan liked that, Ken liked that, Tim hated it because it doesn’t sound sexy.

then the grenade: Mina (Head of AI Safety / “Responsible Autonomy” / whatever title) quit last Thursday. Tim says “we don’t have time to replace her” like it’s a normal sentence. Jordan does not laugh. Miles tries to move on fast. Sarah says “we’ll redistribute responsibilities” but nobody says to who. Nadia asks, calmly, “who signs off on guardrails now” and you could hear keyboards stop. Dana pings me privately “don’t write that in any email.”

Ravi shows up late, looks exhausted, asks exactly the questions we need him to ask: containment boundary, kill switch, rollback, immutable audit, “what happens if someone disables logging for performance.” Sarah answers too quickly (“we won’t”) and Ravi gives that look like he’s seen this movie. he reminds everyone his last day is Feb 5 and offers to do a working session before he goes because “after that you’ll lose the only person who remembers why things were done.” Sarah says yes immediately. Dana says she can squeeze Feb 6 2pm AEDT “tentative” (lol) if we send an agenda today.

Ken keeps circling back to contract terms like a shark: he wants 24-hour incident notification, broad indemnity, and he hates consumption. he also says “I need three quotes for fairness” while basically admitting they’ll decide based on the next demo. he’s also apparently on a conference panel Feb 26–27 (Vegas) so if we don’t get redlines in before then, it slips. also note: new GC starting Mar 2 (Priya S) ex-BigTech “policy-first, allergic to hand-wavy” (Dana’s words). that’s either great for us if we’re crisp or catastrophic if we show up with vibes.

Jordan flags their “Red Team Weekend” Mar 14–15. requirement: demonstrate we can run inside boundary + no data leaving + full auditability. he says they will try to exfil data and also try to trick the system into doing privileged API calls. he mentions last month’s “test” where an internal model spammed privileged calls (everyone says “test” like it wasn’t scary). I asked if they have an owner for unified audit logging and Nadia literally says “we have five tools and zero truth.” sounds like an opening if we bundle logging/forensics readiness into Skynet deployment, but Ken will fight bundling if it looks like scope creep.
